Hansgrohe Shower Cartridge Replacement

It can be quite a hassle if your Hansgrohe shower faucet leaks. The leaks could be caused by the shower faucet valves, worn-out seals, corrosions, or hard water deposits. Learn how to easily remove, repair, or clean your cartridge to stop a leakage with this guide:

Tools

Hansgrohe repair kit

Rags

Hex key

Flat-head screwdriver

Faucet puller

Plumber’s deep socket

1.
Turn off the main water supply

Start by turning off the main water supply and the water channel supplying the bathroom. Turn on the Hansgrohe shower faucet to drain the remaining water from the pipes to ensure no leakage during the process. Use a rag to plug in the shower drain, to avoid losing the small screws.

2.
Remove the handle

Remove the cover cup to expose the screws. Use the flat-head screwdriver to pop off the cover— be careful not to damage or scratch the material. Once the cup is removed, use the hex key to remove the screws. Set the screws aside.

Pull the handle with your hand, and take it out from the faucet. If it does not come out easily, use a faucet puller.

Different models may require different handle removing requirements.

3.
Remove the stem nut

Loosen the stem nut with the plumber's deep socket. Remove the trip and the sleeve, which are tightly fitted on the stem of the cartridge. Unwind the stem by hand to remove it.

4.
Removing and replacing the cartridge

Removing the cartridge: Reach in, and remove the cartridge carefully by ensuring all the O-rings come out. If there is debris in the cartridge, use a soft rag to gently clean the valve area. Check if the faucet body is clear, and then insert a new cartridge in the correct position. Align the hot water side to the left or as indicated. Push it firmly inside into place.

Replacing the cartridge: Reverse the procedures to replace the stem of the Hansgrohe shower faucet, and hold it tightly with the hex nut. Use the plumber's socket to tighten it firmly, in order to hold the cartridge. Put the handle back temporarily, and turn the water back on to check the valve for leakages. Seal back the trim, and you have successfully changed your cartridge!
