Hansgrohe Shower Valve Installation

Hansgrohe Shower Valve Installation

The process of installing a shower valve is quite easy. Here is a guide:

The thermostat mixer valve should always be installed by the current water regulations. For any current or future doubts on the water regulation requirements, contact the local service provider in your area or any professional plumbers available.

The mixer valve for the Hansgrohe showers is suitable for water supply systems such as:

Gravity Fed Hot and Cold (pressure balanced) 0.1 - 1.0 bar Gas Combination Boiler (multi-point) 1.0 - 10 bar Unvented System (pressure balanced) 1.0 - 10 bar Pumped System 1.0 - 10 bar

Shower Thermostat Installation

  1. Make sure that the hot and cold water outlets are about 150mm apart. Hot water should be on the left and cold water should be on the right-hand side. The backplate elbows are not supplied but they can be easily purchased and they should be about ½ an inch.
  2. Flush both the hot and the cold water.
  3. Use the PTFE tape to wrap around the S-unions and screw them into the backplate elbows. The S-unions have to protrude beyond the surface about 32 and 41 mm.
  4. Seal the gap that is between the tiles and the S-unions.
  5. Screw the escutcheons firmly onto the S-unions.
  6. Use the union nuts to fasten and secure the thermostatic mixer onto the S-unions. Tighten the nuts after ensuring that the unit is well aligned and make sure not to damage the chrome finish.

Bath/Shower Thermostat Installation

This shower thermostat has two installation options and they are as follows:

- As the shower thermostat above (positioned over a bath).

- Fitting to the bath using the supplied pillar unions.

1.
The pillar unions in the shower thermostat are designed in a way that they fit tap holes on a bath about 180mm apart, with the cold water flowing from the right and the hot water from the left.

2. Flush both the cold and the hot water supplies.

3. Put the washers into the union nuts (chrome). Avoid using filters while using pillar onions. Fit the large seal from underneath the bath and over the thread then secure with the nuts.

4. Secure the mixer onto the union nuts by fastening the union nuts on it. Be careful while doing this so that you do not damage the chrome finish.

When mounting a Hansgrohe shower, ensure that the entire area of the bathroom wall is completely flat and that it is steady and has no weak points whatsoever. The dowels and screws that are enclosed should only be installed on concrete walls.

Fit the soap tray bracket by pushing it into the bar, and then slide the tray down to the bracket.

  1. Take the measurements of the space where the fixation will take place on the wall support and you are allowed to make adjustments by the tile pattern if need be.
  2. Use a 6mm drill bit to drill a hole that is about 45mm deep.
  3. Seal around the hole by inserting wall plugs into the holes. Use fixing screws that are about 50mm and washers to fix the wall bar into the correct position.
  4. Use a hex wrench (5mm) to fix the wall bar at the supports.
  5. Insert a mesh washer into the hose and then attach it to the hand shower. The mesh is used to prevent dirt from flowing out with the water. The other end of the hose should be connected to the mixer while ensuring that the rubber washer is in its proper place. Place into the hand shower slider to complete the installation process.

How to Operate the Shower

Flow ON/OFF Control: Turn the handle that controls the flow counterclockwise, to turn the water on, and to increase the flow of the water. Turn it clockwise to decrease the water flow and to turn it off completely.

Temperature Control: Turning the temperature control handle in a counterclockwise manner increases the water temperature, and turning it in a clockwise manner decreases the temperature.

Thermostat: The valve is made in a way that it adjusts to changes in the flow supply and still maintains the outlet water temperature originally set.

Using Bath / Shower Diverter: Water automatically flows from the bath tap when it is first turned on. To channel the water to the hand shower, pull the diverter knob up and push it down to divert the water flow to the bath tap.
