Step 1
Press the buttons on the toilet seat and simultaneously pull it by lifting it carefully.
Step 2
Pry the hinge covers, remove them and set them aside.
Step 3
Unfasten the screws using a screwdriver to remove them. Do not tighten them too much as that may damage the porcelain on the toilet.
Step 4
Replace the hinge covers with new ones, or with the previous ones if they are not damaged.

Identify the kind of nuts that are on the toilet seat—corrosion-prone or plastic. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry open the covers that are behind the toilet seat to see the bolt head seating beneath it. With a screwdriver, unfasten the bolts while simultaneously holding the nuts using a pair of pliers.

- Pry the hinge caps and remove them completely so the screws are easily accessible. Use a screwdriver to loosen the toilet seat.
- Reinstall the toilet seat together with the lid by pressing them down on the hinge pins that are provided (keep in mind that this installation is temporary).
- Align the front and the sides of the bowl with the newly installed toilet seat and lid by closing them down onto the toilet. When they are correctly aligned, press down on the hinges to secure the toilet seat.

- Push the rubber bushing towards the bolt and the hinge as well.
- Place the bolts of the toilet seat onto the surface of the toilet bowl.

- Use a 1/2” wrench to tighten the bolts once you have aligned the toilet seat with the surface of the toilet bowl.

- Lift the seat by pulling it off. Remove the seat together with the lid.
- Pry the caps that are the hinges and remove them as well.
- Pry the bolts after you have removed the hinges.
- Replace the old hinges with brand new ones.
- Align the new hinges in the same position as the old ones and snap the cap closed.
