How to Remove a Delta Kitchen Faucet

The Delta kitchen faucets are of more than 100 different models and about 2/3 of those faucets are single-handled.

It is possible to replace a Delta single-handle faucet with a Delta two-handle kitchen faucet
, and vice versa. Check the number and the placement holes that are on your sink. It is still possible to drill new holes on the sink. Cover any unused ones using caps.

You may need someone to hold the faucet for you if it is mounted or widespread, especially if you are securing the fasteners from above the sink.

Removing a Delta Single-Handle Kitchen Faucet

Tools

Adjustable pliers

Philips screwdriver

Basin wrench

Sponge

Scouring powder

  1. Shut off the water. Shut off the main water supply to the faucet and then open the faucet to let any remaining water drain. Opening the faucet will also relieve the pressure off the cold and hot water supply lane.
  2. Disconnect the hoses. Use a pair of adjustable pliers to loosen and remove the flexible hoses from the shut off valves as well as from the faucet tubes. If the Delta single-handle kitchen faucet has a sprayer attached to it, disconnect it from the faucet’s spout completely.
  3. Remove the faucet from the sink. Unscrew the faucet and then wiggle it off of the sink. You can use a basin wrench to get to the back of the sink if your faucet has retaining nuts that are inaccessible. However, if the retaining nuts to your Delta single-handle kitchen faucet are easily accessible, you can reach them using a pair of adjustable pliers. If the faucet you are removing has mounting plates, you can easily unscrew those using a Philips screwdriver. Remember to unscrew the spray attachment if there is one present.
  4. Lift the old faucet out. Use scouring powder, a sponge and clean water (preferably disinfected) to clean the sink deck and then dry it off using a piece of clean cloth. This should be done only after you have removed the old faucet.

Removing a Two-Handle Delta Faucet

Tools

Cloth

1/8” Allen wrench

Needle nose pliers

Philips head screwdriver

Flathead screwdriver

Removing a Delta two-handle kitchen faucet is quite similar to removing a single-handled one. There is usually a small-sized rubber plug placed underneath the curve of the faucet handle. Remove it using a pair of needle nose pliers and use a flathead screwdriver to remove the screws.

For those Delta two-handle kitchen faucets that do not contain a rubber plug, the securing screw is most likely under a different cover. The cover should be at the top or along the edges of the faucet handle. You should be able to wedge gently underneath the lid to remove the lid while making sure that it does not bend or warp. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to pry off the securing screw. Pull off the Delta two-handle kitchen faucet and remove it.
