Things to do before installing a Toto toilet
Before installing the toilet, make sure to read the instructions carefully. The instructions also contain warranty information on the toilet and maintenance requirements. If the installation is based on the removal of the old toilet, uninstall it completely.
Some Toto toilets have high-performance flushing systems, such as the E-max, G-max and the Power Gravity—these are not customized for back-to-back installations. To install these toilets, drain the toilet drain connections to incorporate WYE fitting. For the installation of the later models, it is best to contact a professional.
How to Install a Toto Toilet
1. Open the Unifit rough-in packaging to complete the rough-in installation and read through the rough-in installation manual.
2. Without removing the Unifit rough-in that is on the floor flange, place the template into its right position, read and follow the instructions on the toilet bowl installation. Also, make sure that the wax seal is set.
3. Align the bowl and the Unifit rough-in, and place it. Place the two mounting blocks as well and do not forget to align the bowl’s outlet with the Unifit rough-in opening.
4. Position the toilet perpendicular to the back wall and parallel to the sidewall. The toilet should not be diagonal or crooked.
5. Put the screws onto the mounting blocks and then cover them with the screw caps.
6. Install the hardware that goes onto the tank i.e. the tank-to-bowl mounting hardware. Make sure not to overtighten the screws or any other hardware since that could potentially break the china/porcelain and cause personal injury when you are handling the toilet and the hardware.
7. Lay a towel or any other form of padding and then place the toilet tank upside down. Inspect the bowl for both the smaller fill valve nut and the larger flush valve nut and make sure that the connection is secure. Proceed to tighten the units using your hands. Ensure that the fill valve does not move about during the tightening process.
8. Connect the water supply hose to the fill valve. The connection of the water supply hose to the fill valve should be done before you install the tank to the bowl. It is recommended that you use a relatively long and flexible supply hose.
9. Place the gasket onto the flush tower nut. Place the gasket over the nut while pressing down, until it touches the bottom part of the tank. Leave a slight gap between the gasket and the bottom of the tank.
10. Guide the water supply hose over the fill valve while holding the tank up. Align the inlet of the bowl with the gasket and the bolts with the bolt holes that are on the toilet bowl.
11. Using your hand, tighten the nuts until the toilet tank fits. It should be on all the three contact points that are on the toilet bowl.
