1. The Toto company offers warranties for their vitreous china products. The warranty should be free of defects in terms of defects and workmanship when they are in use normally, installed and serviced regularly. The warranty lasts for up to one year from the purchase date. Note, however, the warranty is only applicable to the original owner of the product. The actual person who purchased the product. The warranty is only transferable to the subsequent purchasers of the product but in a real sense, the warranty is not transferable to third parties. There are only three areas in the US where the warranty is applicable. North, Central, and South America in no particular order.
2. However, there are limitations to the warranty. They only cover the repairs, replacements, and other adjustments of the products or parts found to have defects if and only if they were installed properly and used according to the instructions that are provided by the manufacturer. To confirm truthfulness on any warranty claims, Toto has the right to conduct inspections to determine the actual cause of the reported defects. Once the legitimacy of the claim has been approved, Toto will incur the labor and parts cost incurred during the repairs or replacements. The installation and the removal costs are covered as well.
3. The Toto warranty limits some items such as damages caused by natural disasters like earthquakes, floods, storms, and fires. Other areas that are not covered by the warranty are:
- Accident caused damages and unreasonable use of products is not covered and so is misuse, negligence, and lack of proper maintenance of the Toto products is also not covered by the warranty either.
- Damages as a result of waste and foreign matter deposited in the water system are also not a part of the warranty coverage either.
- Installation of the products in a hazardous environment and damages caused by wrong installation methods and wrong product repairment procedures are not covered by the warranty as well.
- Faults that are not caused by Toto such as lightning strikes or random electric surges are also not covered.
- Fade due to product ageing, wear and tear, scratching and reduction of the gloss polish of the products is not warranted either.
- The moving parts are made up of plastic or rubber material.
- Plastic, wood, or metallic Toto toilet seats.
4. For you to claim a warranty, you would need to produce a valid form of documentation that is proof of purchase. Registration of the warranty is done at www.totousa.com. All of the above procedures are solely done voluntarily but upon failure, the limited warranty registration will cancel out your rights for the limited warranty.
5. The warranty earns you special legal rights that are customized to legitimate Toto customers. Other rights that are provided by Toto vary from state to state, province to province, and/or country to country.
6. For repair services that are covered by the warranty, it is a necessity to produce the proof of purchase and a letter that clearly states the problem that your Toto product has. These can also be delivered to any Toto service facility.
7. A very important notice: Damages caused by either chloramine in the treatment of public water supply or cleaners containing chlorine (calcium hypochlorite) are not Toto’s responsibility because of the damage that may be caused to the fittings.
