Honda Ignition Coil #2
The ignition coil is located behind the front bumper, on the driver's side of the engine compartment.
A coil is a device used to store a high voltage electric charge which is sent to the spark plugs through the distributor cap and plug wires. It consists of an insulated metal core encased in a layer of plastic or fiberglass, surrounded by one or more layers of wire. These coils are often referred to as "ignition coils" or simply "spark coils".
The ignition coil has a resistance of: 0.4 ohms with the ignition switch OFF and between 1.2 and 2.0 ohm with it ON.
The ignition coil is a crucial part of the ignition system. If it fails the ignition will not function, and it could lead to a serious engine misfire.
