Pressure Reducing Valves (PRVs) are designed to reduce the maximum system pressure to a preset limit, usually from 150PSI to 60PSI. Pressure to the system is controlled by adjusting the position of the upper end of the spring loaded pop-up stem, which is connected to a diaphragm within the valve. By rotating the knob on top of the stem, the operator can raise or lower pressure in the system. For operation, a relief valve/check valve must be installed in the discharge line near the RPZ for venting air to atmosphere.
