What's New in the DefrostSensor-Harness 28W71 The DefrostSensor-Harness 28W71 is a fully programmable frost and defrost controller designed for 7,000 to 15,000 Btu Air Conditioning Systems (ACSs) and room air handlers (RAHs). To give your customers the best warranty in the industry, Lennox created the DefrostSensor-Harness. The DefrostSensor-Harness monitors the defrost system and automatically revokes warranty protection if factors such as low refrigerant or improper maintenance are present. The DefrostSensor-Harness requires a special thermostat, which is included with most new Lennox® air conditioning equipment.

The DefrostSensor-Harness controls the defrost function of the evaporator coil, preventing frost build-up on the evaporator coil. The operator has the ability to start the defrost cycle before going into the walk-in and/or stop the cycle at specific times while in the walk-in. The product is designed to read and adjust through a computer control board to prevent over defrosting of the coil, which can cause pump freeze up and water damage to surrounding areas. This

The DefrostSensor-Harness provides a unique solution for constant care of condensing units by directly monitoring the amount of icing that has accumulated on the coils. Combined with a high defrost temperature, this system provides consistent conditions for efficient operation resulting in longer unit life and improved customer satisfaction. The defrost cycle is initiated when frost depth exceeds the factory preset point (approximately .25 inches).

The Defrost Sensor-Harness allows you to wirelessly monitor the defrost cycle of your Lennox Air Conditioner. That way, you can make sure the unit is fully defrosted as scheduled by preventing over/under defrosting.

The defrost sensor harness is a microprocessor-controlled electronic device used to send on and off switching signals to the defrost heater. These copper wires are tapped into electrical lines from the thermostat to the defrost control and switch between frost sensor modes. When the refrigerator is in cooling mode, the defrost heater will turn ON when it senses frost buildup on the evaporator coil. This sensor harness plus FrostGuard fault detection system helps prevent secondary refrigerant leaks due to ice buildup.
