This is a replacement MTD 712-3078 NUT-HEX FLANGE.

The 712-3078 NUT-HEX FLANGE from MTD is a nut-hex flange that fits various MTD riding mowers when replacing the drive shaft. It is constructed of steel and has an outer diameter of 5 1/2". The inside diameter (ID) of the flange measures 3/4".

New for your lawn mower blades, nuts & bolts, is now available. MTD's new nut-hex flange fasteners are available in 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 7/16", 1/2", 9/16" and 5/8" sizes. This new product eliminates the need to take the carburetor apart when you have lost a nut or other part that would normally break out in the carburetor bowl area. The hex flange design replaces standard nuts and makes it quick a easy to replace them when needed.
