This kit is designed to perform a qualitative test for the presence of Bromide ion in a water sample. The test is based on the formation of Bromide ions by an enzyme reaction catalyzed by Bromate. The resulting color is read after adding Acid and reading in 2 minutes.

This kit contains 1 bottle of Bromotoluene, which is a liquid that may be used to identify and quantify the presence of the bromide ion in drinking water samples. Bromide is a naturally occurring mineral found in groundwater and surface water such as lakes, ponds and rivers. Exposure to bromide has been linked to reproductive abnormalities in laboratory animals and adverse effects on human health such as skin rashes, tiredness and reduced fertility. Consumption of high levels of bromide can also result in goitre formation.
