This kit is designed to perform a qualitative test for the presence of Bromide ion in a water sample. The test is based on the formation of Bromide ions by an enzyme reaction catalyzed by Bromate. The resulting color is read after adding Acid and reading in 2 minutes.

Exposure to bromide has been linked to reproductive abnormalities in laboratory animals and adverse effects on human health such as skin rashes, tiredness and reduced fertility. Consumption of high levels of bromide can also result in goitre formation.
