The Rheem 68-24047-08 is a connector/trap assembly which controls water flow between the water supply line and the faucet, outlet, bathtub, etc. The connector/trap is installed in the wall. The connector/trap allows for drain of atmospheric air while holding water in the pipes. The trap drains the fixture, preventing sewer gasses from coming back into through fixture.

The Rheem® 68-24047-08 connector/trap assembly is part of the Rheem® brand of water heaters. It includes the connector/trap assembly, drain valve with a rubber washer, and mounting bolt. Both connectors are 1/2" sweat (female) connections, and will connect to pipes 3/4" or smaller.
