The T&P relief valve is a safety device in homes that use natural gas or propane to heat water. When the value senses a fire hazard it releases steam and pressure through the vent pipe. For easy access and addition versatility, an industry standard 2" NPT thread allows for the fitting of a temperature gauge or the addition of multiple pressure relief devices.
