The 234944 gas valve is removed from a Ruud Heat Pump kit. This valve is part of the gas control (thermostat) unit not the burner assembly. This valve will fit the following heat pump models as well as many other brands. It directly replaces the 15NPEA290 gas valve.

A gas control (thermostat) that controls the flow of gas depending on the temperature in the water-heating system. It is used to maintain a specific temperature. The thermostat will shut off more gas allowed into the system when the desired temperature is reached, and it will open additional gas once the temperature drops below the desired level.

This Thermostat is designed for use on all Ruud furnaces using either 10" or 14" LP gas wall heaters, with Gas Valve Burner A.

Gas control is the name for a thermostatic valve with pilot. It controls gas flow to your appliance by using a pilot or spark from its own flame to ignite the main burner in your appliance. Gas burners or appliance often use them in conjunction with a temperature sensing device to provide an automatic means of regulating the heat output and raising the burner's temperature when the trigger is pressed. They are typically used with gas valves and gas regulators. Use it as the replacement part for your broken one!

The RHEEM 234944 -Ruud SP20171A Gas Valve / Thermostat is compatible with devices that are equipped with either Type B or F connections. This Gas Valve/Thermostat has a water pipe union connection size of 1/2" and a gas connection of 3/8". The Burner B kW is 1 and Gas Valve Valve/Thermostat comes with an OPDM (Oxidized Polyethylene) bonnet.

This replacement gas control, a product of Rheem's SmartFlo line, is designed for use with a Ruud mini split system to maintain temperature. It's compatible with Ruud SP20171A LP gas valves and utilizes a damper that opens when hot water falls below the set point and closes once the desired temperature is reached.

The gas control may be used to regulate the correct burner flame for optimum performance of the system and to prevent overheating.
