The A.O. Smith294368 Magnesium Anode Rod is a round 3" diameter rod of magnesium. It has both hollow and solid state anode materials. It extends replacement up to 25 years when used with a chlorine generator system in pools with 40,000 to 100,000 gallon water capacity or a pond 15,000 - 20,000 gallon with no filtration or circulation.

Provides long term protection of water heater against corrosion caused by elements in the water. This Magnesium Anode Rod protects against both passive, slow corrosion caused by chlorides in the water and aggressive attacks from high mineral content. Because Magnesium corrodes less than zinc or aluminum a high concentration of magnesium will not promote galvanic corrosion of copper piping causing pin hole leaks. Replace with a new anode rod at least once a year or sooner if there is any sign of rust on rod.

Used to correct sluggish water flow or corrosion. The 294368 Magnesium Anode Rod works with both the LT and HT Models, and is one of two anode rods available for the LT Models.
