The Wilkins Double Check Detector is a water-level protection device used in water supply systems to protect against the effects of siphoning or backflow. The double check principle consists of two float switches, the primary and secondary switches which are connected electrically and mechanically in series with each other. If the primary switch fails to operate, the secondary switch will actuate, protecting against a failure. In addition, if the primary switch does not function properly, it will not permit backup water to enter the system by closing off the secondary switch opening.
