The patented PIEZO IGNITER in all Bradford-White automatic water heaters senses the flame from any gas grill and automatically switches from pilot to full power mode. This Igniter is designed for easy installation with standard 4" and 6" burners, fits either right or left burner, and does not require an A.C. power source.

The Bradford White 266017 PIEZO IGNITER comes with a Piezo igniter with both push and lock buttons, so that means you have two ways of igniting your water heater. This igniter is an excellent way to add more safety features to your  Bradford White hot water heater. It provides a safer way of starting up your water heater because each time you try and ignite it, it will give you one try only. If it fails the first time, then it will not try again until you remove the unit and attempt to ignite it again yourself.

The PIEZO igniter is an electrical ignition used for gas connection to the appliance. It easily installs on top of the Bradford White grill and is convenient.

The Bradford White PIEZO ignition systems are designed to be installed on Bradford White water heaters that have a manual reset pilot operated by a lever that is accessible from the tank lid. The piezo igniter kit comes with all required parts, wires, and instructions needed to install the ignition system into the water heater.

A piezo igniter is a member of the group of devices that ignite gas appliances. The name comes from the fact that it creates an electric spark (a "piezo" effect), when voltage is applied to metal surface so that it cracks and explodes. The piezo igniter requires only 25 micro amps to activate, and uses the same voltage as the gas valve 37-66 v ac 100µA. This low current requirement makes Piezo extremely safety oriented. The Piezo igniter carries a five-year warranty and is easy to replace.

Bradford White has introduced a new Piezo igniter for their Line Six, Series 60 and 70 gas water heater models. The igniter that is currently installed on these models will be updated to the new Piezo igniter at no charge.
