This part is the stock RBM OEM Ignition Relay for all Ford Escort turbo I/P cars with the Siemens VDO CPS-PI injection. This OEM replacement will replace the Siemens VDO CPS-PI (Engine control module) with RBM diagnostic monitor and have full functionality, which is what you need to pass a CA smog check.

The RBM ignition relay is a generic replacement for late model Volvo and Mercedes vehicles and came into the market in 2006. It has been proven to work with all the functions of the original without any issues, including support for CAN bus in some models. If your vehicle is equipped with an engine immobilizer, the RBM ignition relay is installed on the left-hand side of the driver's footwell. The ignition switch must be in position "ON" before the fog lights are switched on. On vehicles without an immobilizer, this relay is not used and should be left in its original position.
