The Amana gas furnace secondary heat exchanger is designed to be a direct replacement for your old secondary heat exchanger. The secondary heat exchanger is a two-pipe device installed on the suction side of the water heater. By reversing the flow of circulating water, it transfers heat from domestic hot water to incoming cold water, increasing hot water production and helping to eliminate the need for frequent repairs and service calls.
