The 5085 Thermostat is a precision temperature control used for protection of compressors from low refrigerant pressures, limit control of refrigerant flow, and as a thermostat to control the temperature of a heating unit. The White-Rodgers 5085 is a differential temperature controlled snap disc fan control designed to provide accuracy and safety over a broad temperature range.

Power-stat thermostats are Emerson's premium line to meet all types of control needs. Many of the models feature SNAP Disc Fan Control, an easy to install, snap disc bimetal technology design that eliminates the need for mechanical fan motor control. With SNAP Disc Fan Control, no mechanical contactors are needed. The snap disc is used in place of the normal relay to automatically control fan speed by sensing temperature rise or fall.

The 5085 is the only thermostat in the industry that has both a snap-disc fan control and a remotely located cut-out switch. The snap disc works like the old-fashioned snap disk, but modern technology controls it from a separate location. The two features working together enable you to have a fast heat response from the heaters and still have excellent temperature control from one or more air conditioning zones.

The 5085 Thermostat is a Non-Programmable, Non-Contact type thermostat used for heating applications. The thermostat features a snap disc fan control which eliminates the need for wiring or separate control for reversing fan operation.
