HOT SURFACE FURNACE IGNITOR-5-1/4"

Robertshaw 4488 Hot Surface Furnace Ignitor, Red, Push to Light, 5-1/4" Long.

Add a 4488 Hot Surface Furnace Ignitor by Robertshaw to your furnace for improved performance. The ignitor is used to ignite the burners of hot surface furnaces that are used for heating homes and businesses. Installation is easy, no electrical experience needed. You will have a high-quality furnace ignitor in a few minutes.

The hot surface furnace ignitor is for use with hot surface furnaces. The ignitor features a coil and a target. The coil is designed to replace factory units.

The hot surface furnace ignitor is designed to work with a hot surface furnace. It is used for gas heaters that use a heating element and gas fan to distribute heat.

The 4488 is specifically designed to replace the #700 ignitor on Robertshaw Hot Surface Furnaces. It is designed with a new insulating cup that prevents the ignitor from coming in contact with potentially conductive or corrosive surfaces, including other ignition parts, and the furnace heat exchanger; thus extending its service life.

The Heat Shield and Ignitor are designed for use on most gas fired hot surface furnaces. The heat shield provides protection to coils and tanks when a tool is placed against them. The ignitor is mounted to the furnace face plate and automatically starts the gas when the thermostat calls for heat.

The 4488 Ignitor contains a high temperature Bimetallic design that operates by thermal expansion and contraction. At the end of the operating range, approximately 200°F, the ball in the ball & socket forms at first a bend and then separates from its seat holding the cam in place. This device then causes a threaded bar to spin around, pulling open a pair of contacts which provide operating power to the furnace coils.
