Water flows through the cooling coils in a heat pump by means of a refrigerant. When this heat is absorbed, the refrigerant changes from a liquid to vapor form and flows out of the compressor into an expansion device, where it expands and cools down. The cooled liquid refrigerant then passes through ducts to the outside unit or evaporator.
