Rheem expansion valves (TXV) are designed to be used in series with a gas or electric heat pump system during the cooling season to control the temperature of the liquid refrigerant flowing through it. When an expansion valve senses that the refrigerant has chilled sufficiently, it will reduce its flow (and by extension, its speed) so as to reduce the cold temperature of the liquid refrigerant. This will lower the capacity requirements of your heat pump, which in turn lowers your energy consumption during the cooling season.

The TXV Assembly is designed to aid in the recovery of a refrigeration system following an overriding. The assembly contains the expansion valve and diaphragm with blades, mounting grommets, and O-ring seals.
