The ROBERTSHAW 4502 - 24V 1" X 1" Intermittent Pilot, Direct Spark, & Hot Sur is a direct spark with hot surface ignition system. It offers safe operation in the most rugged applications. This unit utilizes a direct spark control which provides precise flame duration for reducing unwanted fuel waste while delivering quick and easy start-up. This unit also has an integrated propane or natural gas system for reliable performance. Must be used with an electronic low voltage automatic transfer switch.

The new Robertshaw 4502 1" x 1" pilot valve gives you the power to set precision mixtures and fire up hard-to-ignite pilot flames with an ultra precise 1" x 1" flame. It has the same easy to read markings of our standard 1" X 1" pilots, but it offers better pilot arc control, extended range of adjustment, and is engineered for quicker ignition. The integrated automix feature provides you with the ability to program automatic fuel to air adjustments within a specified range. Pilot assemblies for 24/216V boilers, package steamers, and burners fall into one of three categories: Hot Surface Ignition (HSI) pilots, Direct Spark pilot systems (DSP), or Intermittent Pilot (IP) systems. There are advantages and disadvantages to each pilot type but the main factor to consider is gas usage and overall system efficiency.

The R4502 is a hot surface designed pilot assembly that features a 1" diameter x 1" wide ultra-thin ceramic element and 2 g3 spark gaps. The R4502 utilizes a reverse flow design which provides the highest luminosity when viewed through an optical pyrometer and creates tremendous stability with fast flame response time. This pilot assembly is specifically designed for all high output forced draft burners and radiant tube heaters used in blast furnaces, continuous casters, rotary kilns, exhaust fans, pulverizers, fans and blowers.

The 4502 is a combination direct spark and pilot model that has been designed to be used in small boilers or unvented gas log sets. A Pilot-Air control is utilized to ignite the main burners with as little as 5% of the total burner air supply; no pilot standby!
