Hot Surface Ignitor replaces 767A-3.

The White-Rodgers™ 5181 Hot Surface Ignitor is for use with the following thermostat models: 279F, 2794B, 277M, and 277SM. It also may be used as a replacement for the 767A-3.

The 767A-3 Ignitor is a 600 volt, 120/240 volt dual voltage heat source. It was designed to replace the WR300A, WR301A and 563 and was installed in gas fired equipment which required up to 2 amps at 600 volts or 0.625 amps at 240 volts. It includes a manually resetting quick trip push button safety circuit breaker screw. This Ignitor is designed for use with Natural Gas or Propane only.

The 5181 replaces your defective 767a-3 t stat.   The white-rodgers 5181 is a 2 wire, 270 degree unit, with thermostat and starter included. It has the spring to lift against the wall protector The 5181 has 3 mounting holes 1/8" in diameter, and studs 1/8" dia. Your face plate will be a 787. The 5181 has one mounting screw in it's base to attach stat to baseplate.

The White-Rodgers 5181 series programmable gas valve with a hot surface ignitor is used for gas fired appliances. First, you must determine the model of the existing hot surface ignitor in your system. The 5181 is a hot surface ignitor with adjustable flame surface pilot. It features an orientation-sensitive, flame-sealed lens that works in conjunction with a photocell sensor to guarantee ignition capability under all lighting conditions.

When the glow from your gas pilot flame has grown faint, it's time to replace the control assembly. This part is compatible with the White-Rodgers 5181 heat pump or air conditioning system. The hot surface ignitor is designed for up to 45,000 total on/off operations. It works by creating, maintaining, and then extinguishing a gas pilot flame at its tip.
