OLD STYLE FAN PROVING SWITCH FOR SS

This Old Style Fan proving Switch is specifically designed to test a two speed fan on an SS grade circuit board. The connection is made via two 13 pin spade terminals in a box type stainless steel panel mount switch, whereby the circuit-breaker is turned on and off when the ON/OFF button is depressed. The switches come in three different versions for three phase voltage input and single or three phase supply.

The Jernlund 950-0016 is a Fan Proving Switch for SS. This item is from the Tjernlund 950 Series. This product is used to detect defects or shorts in electrical motors and to protect downstream circuits while testing a motor. The switch is a single pole single throw metal contact switch, which opens on overload or short circuit and closes on de-energization. When power is applied to the switch, it remains off until a resistance of approximately 12 ohms (or four gauge wire) opens the circuit, then the trips into its "reset position." The Proving Switches are used on Scania, Volvo, Renault and other trucks where it is necessary to have a proving switch on the fan, so that a check of the type of cooling fan can be carried out in conjunction with the start of engine.

The 950-0016 is used to prove a tapping line of the fan or the fan with tap. It is mounted in series on the tapping line and provides direct current for 30 sec to allow the operator to test for switch and ground potential. The proving switch shall prove the tapping line when closed and de-prove it when open. The switch shall be capable of withstanding voltage or current required to de-prove tapping line during operation at all times.

The Tjernlund fan transformer can be used as a replacement for a garage or house fan controller. It has a wattage of 15/30 watts and comes in an old style design that works with switches up to 120 volts and between 15 and 60 watts.
