The Amana 0151M00069 is a 3/4in (14mm) Thermal Expansion Valve utilized to limit water-flow through a water heater. The thermal expansion valve allows for both the temperature and flow of the water to be limited in order to protect the integrity of the hot water heater.

The AMANA 0151M00069 is an OEM Thermal Expansion Valve. It is the correct replacement part for select Amana and Jenn-Air models and fits all standard 25 and 30 gallon RVs with 80 to 100 gallon propane tanks.

The Amana ® thermal expansion valve is designed for use with all ductless, mini-split systems. It enables continuous room air flow by allowing refrigerant to flow into and out of the indoor unit as your home's temperature changes. The valve also prevents refrigerant leaks due to low line pressure or overfills due to improper line pressures.

A thermal expansion valve is used to control the temperature of a water heater. This is done by preventing cold water from entering the heater when the ambient air temperature drops below a certain point, and also by reducing the loss of heat from the hot water tank. Thermal expansion valves also have a small flow restriction orifice in them which helps prevent more rapid cooling during cold weather.

The thermal expansion valve fits between the water heater and the heating element to control the flow of hot water to the water heater. It is an essential part of gas-fired, electric and tankless heaters.
