The RHEEM AdvancedECO™ Gas Control (Thermostat) is designed for use with a Natural Gas Hot Water Boiler and is intended to control the operation of a combination hot water heater.

Rheem water heaters feature a control called a gas control (thermostat). When enabled, the gas control (thermostat) will maintain the selected temperature on your water heater by automatically cycling on and off to keep it at that temperature. When you disable the gas control, this will turn off the automatic cycling of your water heater. I find that some do not realize that disabling an enabled gas control will result in an unstable or uncontrolled water heater and may be damaged.

The RHEEM 233696 Gas Control Thermostat for RHEEM/BASECO water heaters is just what you need to keep your hot water ready for use. This thermocouple gas control is designed to protect against overheating and restarts the water heater once temperatures decrease. The thermocouple also monitors the flame energy to prevent gas from lighting in the absence of a flame, eliminating potentially dangerous situations.

The Rheem 233696 Natural Gas Control Thermostat allows you to safely adjust your thermostat up or down to meet specific room-temperature comfort levels. It also comes with an energy saving ECO (economy) feature that adjusts gas consumption based on the temperature in the house, and a Manual-Reset control if you're an advanced pilot light tamer. The Energy Guide Label lists the estimated annual cost for each of the five temperature settings, allowing quick comparison between settings.

The Rheem Gas Control Thermostat is an OEM replacement part for Rheem, Ruud, and other brand natural gas water heaters. This thermostat may be used for either the upper or lower limit controls. The control is a two-wire device: one wire for the field supply voltage (24 volt AC or 110 AC) and one wire connecting to a thermister.
