The Asco ASCO 77172 Explosion Proof Valve is a 2-way N.C. valve that is explosion proof. The 2-way N.C. valve will control the flow of gases, such as air, or liquids, such as water and oil or water/gas mixtures. This device is applicable to explosive gas atmospheres, provided that the pressure rating of the device is greater than or equal to the surrounding atmosphere pressure and the relief device meets appropriate code requirements for relief of excess pressure (i.e., BOCA, ICC).

The ASCO Explosion Proof Cylinder is designed for use in hazardous locations where an explosion could occur. It protects personnel from the effects of an explosion by containing the explosion and preventing it from entering or leaving the enclosure. The cylinder is suitable for hazardous areas like those found in chemical plants, pharmaceuticals, food processing operations, mining or grain handling facilities.

The National Electric Code (NEC) requires that all devices be protected from over-voltage in a 120/60/110/50 system. This ASCO 77172 Explosion Proof Solenoid Valve is UL 467 Listed for hazardous locations and is designed for use with Class I, Group D, Division 1 and 2, Hazardous Locations. It features 3/4" NPT conduit and flange connections with 2-way normally closed contacts. The valve will open on command to permit flow through the electrical circuit when energized. In the deenergized position, the contacts are closed and current flow is prevented.

Protects against electric arc and flame hazards. 2-way Non-Coupled Valves are normally closed (NC) type valves which shut off the flow of gases or liquids when energized.
