The Amana 167634-0.053 13 SEER Piston Kit is designed to reduce energy consumption in the cooling mode. The piston motor allows for energy efficiency by reducing energy loss due to hot and cold spots and increases the changeover point so the compressor only cycles on for longer periods of time during an extreme temperature reduction. This results in a longer compressor and fan life and a more stable temperature than other piston motor designs. It is also designed to help eliminate continuous run operation, which can cause damage to compressors and the environment. Swaps out easily with any original equipment motor.

The piston is one of the most critical components found in your Air Conditioning or Heating system. The 13-SEER piston is designed to meet the demands of high efficiency units. Large volume units are constructed using a cast zinc alloy body, compression rings with spring-steel shim, and reinforced thrust ring. This combination allows for equivalent thermal capacity as compared to higher volume units with high nickel content pistons packaged with factory tested compressor combinations.
