This 40 amp flame sensor is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) part. It has been upgraded with an internal light emitting diode (LED) indicator, and designed for use in Amana furnaces. The flame sensor works by detecting the temperature of the heating chamber. When the sensor detects the temperature dropping below a preset point, it stops the gas from flowing to the burner, and allows it to reheat before restarting combustion process.
