The Purple Peeper® UV flame detector is designed to detect invisible UV flame and provide warning protection from such dangerous events as the ignition of combustible gases. The sensor consists of four parts: a plastic housing, lens, detector tube, and ball and socket mounting bracket. All are UL rated for Class I, Division 1, Groups C & D hazardous locations through National Electric Code (NEC) Article 500 and Standards Association of Canada (SAC)-M149. The safety light pipe provides a visual indication when a dangerous condition exists and needs immediate attention.
Honeywell's UV-1 Flame Detector is used to detect the specific light wavelengths emitted by flames. This makes it possible to detect fire in a wide variety of unconventional sources. The UV-1 can be placed on a burner head and/or installed in the flue.
The UV Peeper is a non-contact optical sensor that detects flaming or glowing surfaces emitting UV light. It senses fire at a safe distance of up to 36 inches away and can easily be installed 15 feet away from the source of flame whether on ceilings or walls. It can also monitor ambient UV light, automatically extinguishing pilot lights and gas valves to prevent re-ignition and saving energy.
The PURPLE PEEPER is an ultra-violet, non-contact detector that will detect the presence of invisible flame, invisible fire, and visible flames with a diameter of 2" or less at a distance of 11' or greater. The PURPLE PEEPER fits directly into a 1 inch NPT explosion proof conduit box. The unit detects flame and fire by sensing the heat energy released from the flame and can be used for automatic shutdown protection on equipment.
