The Honeywell 308718 NTC (negative temperature coefficient) Duct Temperature Sensor with 18 inch (45 cm) lead wires is used to measure air temperature in HVAC ductwork. The NTC sensor resistivity decreases as the airflow increases. When installed at a known distance from the blower, the varying resistance of this variable resistor can be used as a comparative reference to close a control loop on cooling or heating systems, variable air volume fans, and air flow sensors.
