The Carrier 297889-EK02JA170 is a FUSIBLE PLUG (SUCTION). This product protects your Carrier furnace against overheating and compressor damage due to low refrigerant levels. It can also protect other system components, like the outdoor fan motors, that fail if they receive inadequate power from the compressor.
The Carrier EK02JA170 Fusible Plug (Suction) is designed to protect your system from damage caused by an overload. This plug is for use with installed circuit breakers only, is 120 volts and 50/60 cycles, the fuse type is a Class T2. The plug length is 3 3/10" (80 mm). Please refer to the owner's manual for installation instructions
The Carrier 297889 EK02JA170 Fusible Plug (Suction) is usually located in the duct work and if defective can cause a loss of suction. The Fusible Suction Valve on these units consist of a straight piece of metal with one or more holes at the end or side. The purpose of each hole is to allow steam to escape which assists the valve in closing automatically when needed without excessive pressure building up in the unit.
Fused plug (suction). For use at 208 volts only. NOT protected for outdoor use. NOT for use with range hoods, clothes dryers, or underfloor heating units.
