Honeywell recommends the TP973A2223 as a direct replacement for the earlier model 973 thermostat as supplied with many gas and oil boilers. The 97x series pneumatic thermostats are designed to work directly from 1 or 2 stage heating and hot water heating systems where temperatures are between 8C and 40C. The thermostate is full opening at 15C and fully closed at 40C. The terminals are spaced for 0.5" wire spacing (ie a typical electrical control box)
