The 2-1/4 x 2-1/4 Extended Lip US15 is a 2-1/4 X 2-1/4 Square Extended Lip Truss Spacer for use with connection of wood trusses. The extended lip is designed to prevent nails from slipping off the head of the nail and over penetrating the truss.

Extended lip strikes are used to cover 45 or 90 degree bends in the casing, pipe, or an unsupported straight run of pipe. Ordinarily, when using standard base plates with 12" pipe you do not need extended lip strikes. For most applications they are used on tubing rather than casing. When used on tubing it is called a "saddle".
