The Amana 594498 Limit Switch is used in Goodman residential gas and oil furnaces. It is commonly referred to as the pilot or safety limit switch, and its primary function is to prevent the furnace from overheating and turning off the burner in case of a malfunction. You may have to replace the primary limit switch inside the furnace due to normal wear or if you want to clean out old debris that has accumulated inside of the furnace, thus causing it to malfunction.
