American Standard or Rheem…which HVAC unit is best for you? Follow this guide to help you make your choice!
American Standard Air Conditioners
The American Standard AC units fall under three categories: Platinum, Gold and Silver.
American Standard Platinum Line: ZM Air Conditioner
Platinum air conditioners are the most efficient unit types, but they can be quite costly.
Rheem Air Conditioners
Rheem air conditioners also fall under three categories: Prestige, Classic and Value.
Pricing
Although the Prestige series are more expensive, the Classic and Value series are almost as efficient as the Prestige series. The two Prestige model systems are the Comfort Control System and the Comfort Control 2 System, which have automatic troubleshooting units that keep the units run efficiently.
Your price is determined by which model you want, your home and the area in which the unit is being installed. Energy efficiency
Energy efficiency is quite an important aspect to consider when purchasing an air conditioner. Central air conditioners do consume large amounts of energy.
A way to measure energy efficiency is through the SEER ratio. These mark the cooling capabilities of the unit. The higher the SEER, the more efficient they are.
Rheem Prestige Series: 2-Stage Serial Communicating Air Conditioner
The American Standard air conditioners have the highest SEER compared to the Rheem models. The American Standard units with the highest SEER units are the Platinum Z (20), and the lowest unit Silver SI (13). Rheem’s models lie between 16-19.5 SEER.
Warranty Information
The quality of material and the durability for both the American Standard and Rheem units are strong and high quality. Both of these companies offer a 10-year warranty for their units. For the compressors of the air conditioners, the American Standard units have a 12-year warranty. On the other hand, Rheem offers only a 5-year warranty for the same part.
Both of the above units work quite well in residential buildings and commercial use as well. The price and efficiency of the American Standard units are relatively lower than those of Rheem units. Rheem unit prices are influenced by their automatic diagnostic units, which is an additional feature among many other features.
Which is Better?
The American Standard units and the Rheem units manufacture good quality units and their customer services are top tier as well. Some of the elements on the units are similar, while some are different. However, both are at the top of the industry and it takes your taste and preference to make the final decision on which one to choose.
