Step 1: Turn Off the Main Water Supply and Disconnect the Plaster Guard

When installing the Delta Marca faucet, the first step is to turn off your water supply lines. Most faucets have more than one water supply valve, and as such, you should turn off the main water supply completely.

Once you turn down your water supply, remove the plaster guard using a screwdriver. Also, remember to relieve pressure after turning off your water supply by turning on your faucet.

In addition, cover your drainage system. This will prevent small parts used during installation from dropping in the drain. This is a simple job that you can do using a rug or a piece of cloth.

Step 2: Determine Where You Want to Install your Delta Marca Faucet

It is better to install or fit your faucet on your bathroom’s drywall. To do this, if there are no openings, make small ones that can fit your pipes. To create the right openings, use a hole saw, a hammer, and a standard saw.

Step 3: Install the Delta Marca Faucet Cartridge

Once you identify the appropriate installation point, the next step is to install your Delta faucet cartridge. Start by inserting the O-rings on the ends of the cartridge. Once the O-rings are in place, push them slowly into the shower valve. Now take the round faucet rim, place it over the cartridge and screw it using the plaster guard screws you had removed in step 1.

As you install the cartridge, ensure that you push it incorrectly. Spin the cartridge until the hot side is in line with the hot water inlet.

Step 4: Install the Delta Marca Faucet Handle

It is recommended to go for a level that is not too high and not too low when installing the handle. To install the Marca faucet handle, push it onto the cartridge stem.

When the handle is in place, the next thing is to tighten the handle’s small mounting screw using an Allen wrench. This will help to ensure that the handle is safely secured in place.

Step 5: Insert the Horizontal Knobs

Horizontal knobs are essential, though most people tend to ignore them. Once the faucet is well set up, the next step is to insert the horizontal knobs. Insert them upright between the two present horizontal knobs in your bathroom. In addition, you should ensure that the valve is well fixed.

By doing this, make sure there is no unnecessary movement when the knobs are installed.

Step 6: Install Faucet Head

This step is a bit challenging, bearing in mind that you should remove the old faucet head. This means loosening the hexagonal nut that holds your old faucet head using an adjustable wrench.

This is normally at the end of the shower base. After you remove it, you can now install the faucet head.

It is worth noting that as you remove the old faucet shower head, some residual water may drain from it. If such happens, don’t be scared. Remember that you started by switching off the water supply.

Step 7: Wrap the Pipe with a Plumber Tape

Once the new Delta faucet head is installed, or in place, it’s now time to wrap the threaded end of the pipe. You can use plumber tape to do this.

Do not forget to thread your faucet shower head on the shower pipe, rotate the showerhead in a clockwise direction to fix it, and tighten the nuts to secure it.

Remember to cover all the holes using a silicone sealant. You can even choose to paint or decorate the holes to make them more appealing.

Step 8: Flush the Faucet

As you work on plumbing, debris will fall into the plumbing pipes. Debris can cause leaks or even damage the sealing surfaces inside the faucet.

  • Remove the black sealing gasket and aerator. Before turning on the water supply, ensure that the faucet handles are in an “open position” to get off the debris without causing damage.
  • Turn on both water supply valves located under the sink.
  • Let the water run for about 30 seconds.
  • Turn off the faucet handles.
  • Make sure there is no debris left on the aerator screen.

Bottom line

Installing a Delta Marca faucet is not as daunting as it may seem. It is a project that you can carry out in a single day. The main thing is to ensure that you have the suitable materials and tools before starting the task.

If you are sure about doing it yourself, it is good to contact a professional for help.
