Hansgrohe Shower Valve Temperature Adjustment

Posted by Amanda on Jan 3rd 2022

Hansgrohe Shower Valve Temperature Adjustment

The Hansgrohe shower valve lets you preset and make adjustments to the water temperature. You can also change the water flow without affecting the water temperature. The cartridge inside the Hansgrohe shower valve is used to regulate the temperature that you prefer.

To have cold water, simply turn the temperature adjustment knob clockwise. For hot water, turn the knob counterclockwise.

What to do when the Hansgrohe shower valve temperature is stuck
Follow this guide to fix a stuck temperature:

Tools:
Channel locks
Crescent wrench
Grease

1.
Remove the shower valve cartridge.

2. Use a channel lock and place it over the housing of the valve to hold it in place.

3.
Using the crescent wrench, pull apart the cartridge by turning it counterclockwise until the cartridge core comes out.

4.
Check the cartridge for any blockages causing it to stick. Lightly grease the surface of the temperature adjustment cartridge so it can turn easily. You may need a replacement cartridge if there are deposits on the sealing surfaces.

How to calibrate the Hansgrohe thermostatic shower valve

The shower may be too hot or too cold. To adjust the flow of the temperature, all you need is a 2.5 mm hex Allen wrench to fix this.

1.
Remove the temperature control handle: Remove the plastic cap from the bottom of the temperature control handle. Using the Allen key, unscrew the grub screw.

2. Turn on the shower and let it reach its maximum temperature—do this by placing the control handle onto the spindle, and turn it counterclockwise for at least a quarter turn.

3. Wait until the temperature regulates. If you want the water warmer, turn the spindle quarter counterclockwise, until you reach your preferred temperature. If you want colder water, turn the spindle clockwise.

4. Once you achieve the temperature you want, turn off your shower and place the control handle back onto the spindle. Make sure that the lock of the handle fits to the lock of the spindle. This will ensure that you can turn the handle counterclockwise without pressing the override button.

5. Insert the grub screw back using the Allen wrench and put the plastic cap back.

6. Turn on your shower, and test if your calibration has been successful.
