The Hard Start Kit works to prevent restart problems by not letting the motor start until it has been cranked at speed for about two seconds. It is available for a broad range of existing ICM Controls PSC-Series split capacitor AC motors from 1/2 HP to 10 HP and compati ble with 3-phase and 1-phase control systems.

The Integrated Control Module (ICM) Hard Start Kit contains all the required components to address the common low-torque, overheating and excessive current draw problems associated with single-phase PSC line powered fans. The Hard Start Kit is easy to install and provides all the tools necessary for wired remote or local control.

The New ICM855 motor is a single-phase, fractional horsepower, hard start kit that replicates a standard light duty spring wound starter while providing 300%+ greater starting torque for PSC motors. The ICM855 is best suited for intermittent duties below one hour duration using single-phase 120/240 volt motors with 1 to 5 kW of nameplate horsepower operating at speeds up to 3600 rpm.

The hard start kit is a 3:1 planetary gearbox that contains an aluminum hub and ball race designed to handle high stall torque motors. It utilizes an adjustable timing pulley and easy to use connectors for adding electric contactors up to 10hp without the need for complex wiring. The included mounting bracket allows simple installation of the motor. The hard start kit is designed for steel frame construction.

The ICM855 HardStart Kit provides a reliable solution for mitigating var and split-phases for single phase installations. The ICM855 HardStart Kit also contains a PowerSquid® that allows the user to connect more than one motor to the same Power Supply. The ICM855 provides improved current sensing feedback and tolerates high line voltage transients that often occur on low voltage (3-phase) installations. The ICM855 also provides current limiting ability which is helpful in multi-motor wiring situations during startup.

The ICM855 is an integrated package for single-phase low voltage PSC motors. The ICM855 includes all components needed to convert a 1-phase, 0-60C plug-in starter into an actively cooled three phase, hard-start motor controller.
