The Johnson Controls brand zone valve actuator is a pneumatically-operated pneumatic zone valve positioner that moves a variable frequency output. This actuator has a normally closed configuration, the 24V N/C S/R HCO 1.2 HP and a 20 mm body size. The operating range has been set by the Johnson Control's PC (processor control) to make switching from an open configuration to a closed configuration seamless as possible. This insulation class was created for commercial applications that demand increased system reliability.

The Johnson Controls JH13A020 normally-closed zone valve actuator is a high close-off pressure type actuator, using a N/C signal type. The S/R signal type can be used for maximum flow control option. The HCO actuator is based on the standard JH15XB1 actuator. The two sleeves are preassembled with the actuator to form a three piece assembly. This standard adapts to existing valves with diameter range of 19 mm to 31 mm OD and attaches with standard 0.50-20 UNF plug or pipe coupling thread style. Operation cable is 1.

With N/C, the actuator closes when energized and opens when de-energized flow direction does not matter. If the flow direction does matter, then an R N/C must be ordered. The S/R signal type provides a pulsed DC output on open, as long as 24 mA is applied to the actuator's coil.
