Lennox Enerventure 96M60 and 97M60 furnaces are equipped with the Defrost Sensor. The sensor checks the moisture level in the air inside the furnace blower compartment. If the sensor detects excessive moisture, it will "turn on" the defrost operation for approximately 20 minutes to remove the frost from inside the heat exchanger.
The Lennox Defrost Sensor was designed and engineered for easy installation in many Lennox conventional, hybrid and gas furnaces. Based on the latest defrost technology, the sensor is used with a microprocessor control board to monitor and ensure power flow to the defroster at the proper time. The Defrost Sensor is also available as part of a Replacement Control board kit (RCBK60), making it easy to upgrade your current furnace.
The Lennox 97M60 Defrost Sensor is a defrost sensor, it will automatically defrost after the heating season when your boiler is not switched on. The defrost sensor can stop heat loss by defrosting the excess frozen issues before they can build up and damage pipework and components..
The Defrost Sensor monitors the temperature at the air intake, observing the frost that accumulates on the back of the coil. When it senses a temperature increase from frost accumulation, the electronic defrost cycle begins and automatically runs for 30 minutes.
The Lennox 97M60 Defrost Sensor automatically defrosts without turning on the fan. The sensor will turn the blower off for 20 to 30 minutes after 2 hours of running time in the defrost mode and then resume heating. During the off period, frost on the evaporator coil of the furnace is removed and fresh air can circulate through heater ducts. The blower will remain off until a heating demand occurs or for up to 6 hours.
The 97M60 defrost sensor is designed for use with Lennox networked furnaces. The defrost sensor can be integrated into your HVAC system to help prevent ice from building on the evaporator coil, extending the life of your furnace.
An easy-to-install defrost sensor eliminates the need for an expensive hookup to your home's plumbing system. This convenient unit senses when the condenser coil is frozen, and when installed with a Lennox indoor air quality product (such as a furnace or air handler), it will limit power to ...
