A burner orifice is an opening in a gas valve supplied from the main burners through which natural gas or liquid propane gas (LPG) can flow. When using natural gas your burner orifice should have an outside diameter of 2.82 mm +/- 0.32 mm and a length of 38.1 mm +/- 0.4 mm. The most common reason for replacing a burner orifice is improper flame size and shape.
