The 120186 is a 24 V 2 position zone valve. The switch has ON and OFF positions which when selected, allow flow of gases through the actuated elements. An adjustable double pole trip mechanism provides flexibility in linking other building equipment to the control system.

Zone valve actuator is used to control heating and cooling systems and ideal for zone valves in radiant floor, wall, or ceiling heating installations. This device can be wired to as many zone valves as desired. There are 2 terminals: Common (COM) and Normally Open (NO). When COM is energized, the actuator will close the valve at NO. When COM is de-energized, N.O. will open and COMM connects to C terminal of a N.O. zone

The Siemens Building Technologies GmbH zone valve actuator, model 120186, is a solid state, N.O.(normally open) device that electronically positions individual zone valves in commercial and industrial heating/cooling applications. This product controls zone valves on gas-fired radiant, hydronic or air-source heat pumps. The 24 volt model contains a magnetic low voltage valve. Its bidirectional operation provides either an ON (high impedance) or OFF (low impedance) output.

When replacing zone valves on a customers system. The first step is to shut off the power to the heating/cooling unit and make sure that the unit is tripped to remove the power from the furnace. After you have verified that you have removed the power, then remove and replace the existing valve 3/4 NPT on both sides with 24V zone valves. This will supply one side of each zone with 24 volts.

The zone valve is an easy-to-mount solution for decentral control of heating and cooling systems. It simply replaces a zone thermostat with a built-in activation. The valve is controlled by an external 24V on/off signal.
