The Ignition Control is a compatible replacement for Rheem, Ruud and United States Water Heaters. Using this product is easy—just plug it in. It comes with a wire connector no matter what type of gas valve you have.

RHEEM has designed this Ignition Control to be compatible with the following models: RGHN-98

The Ignition Control is a replacement component for Rheem water heaters. It monitors the flame of the burner to make sure it is working properly. If the burner flame fails to ignite, this part shuts down the gas supply to prevent venting.

The ignition control is an inline replacement for the factory control. This unit offers the same functions, but with more options than available from the Rheem factory models. The Ignition Control, if installed correctly, protects the water heater in the event of a power failure or surge to the water heater. Install this unit with a reliable Gate Valve and your Rheem water heater will be protected against damage that may occur from pressure spikes or surges during periods of power loss.

The ignition control is used to ignite a pilot (pilot light) or electric spark for natural gas, propane, oil, or gas water heaters. The Ignition Control is mounted on the front of the water heater.

RHEEM® Ignition Control, The Ignition Control module automatically senses a loss of voltage at the control panel. The ignition control measures the present line voltage. If the present line voltage is below the cut out voltage (30 volts) an indicator lamp located on the front of the unit illuminates. The ignition control also senses any over voltages and protects your water heater by opening the tank’s gas valve if an over voltage condition exists during normal operation. This module will also protect against floating ground as well as over current conditions at the main power supply and it resets automatically when normal operating conditions are restored
