Vacuum Switch
The Vacuum Switch is an O-ring style replacement part for Rheem water heaters. When installed, this part creates an airtight seal between the heater's gas burner assembly and the flue. This seal prevents gas from escaping from your heater, while preventing leaks due to loose or corroded gaskets.

The Vacuum Switch mounts to the side of the gas valve plate with two screws. The vacuum switch is located on the suction side of the gas control valve. This switch detects a loss of vacuum in the gas supply gas tubing and automatically shuts off the gas valve if this condition occurs.
