A gas control, or thermostat works together with your LP gas valve to help control and regulate the amount of gas that goes into the unit.

The RHEEM 234919 Ruud SP20162A Gas Control (Thermostat) is designed for use with gas or liquid fuel furnaces, fireplaces, or boilers. It is equipped with a locking pilot flame sensor for reliable ignition. It includes the thermostat that will help control the temperature of your home and an internal pressure switch that prevents overheating.

A new gas control for your Ruud water heater, with a metal knob. The control is complete with a built-in thermostat for precise temperature control of your water heater. Kit includes the gas control (thermostat) and a wiring guide."

The new combination control kit is available for most Ruud gas furnaces and heat pump models. The kit contains a high-accuracy (1% stable) thermostat and the Rheem Gas Control (Low Pressure Switch), so you only have to order one part number if you are replacing the Gas Control while exchanging your thermostat.

This gas control is compatible with the Ruud Gemini and Olympian Series water heaters."
