It is a direct acting, normally closed thermostat that is also adjustable for different pressures. It works with a minimum pressure of 0.3 psi and a maximum pressure of 15 psi. The Johnson Controls 9089 has the ability to switch between off and on positions at varying pressures from 0.5 to 2 psi and from 2 to 3 psi respectively.
