Compressor Start Relay

The TEC Shortblocks K71-01 relay kit is one of the many TEC compressor start relays. It features easy installation, and replacement of old and obsolete relays that can lead to system failures. With OEM replacements designed to meet and exceed industry standards, all of the compressors start relays are manufactured with an assurance that you will always continue receiving reliability, efficiency, and safety.

This Relay is used as part of the compressor start circuit, for unit that use an external start or external run cap. When the thermostat calls for cooling, the Run relay will close and energize the start relay. The start relay will energize the compressor motor. There are times when you need to bypass this full cycle (start – run) sequence. This might be a useful tool to help you more accurate control of your refrigeration system.

This kit contains all components for use with TEC's K71-01 compressor. The K71-01 relay is a simple to use basic low voltage start relay. The relay is divided into two parts. The board side and the terminal side. The terminal connections are of the 'quick connect' type so you can quickly and easily make the electrical connections to your machine.

The K71-01 is a one-stage, normally closed relay that uses standard solenoid coils to start the compressor motor. AC power comes into the coil and induces a magnetic field. This attracts the armature, which turns the rotor and locks on the contact. The armature then stays energized to hold open the contacts until AC power is removed from coil. The contacts are copper sealed.

This single pole, double throw relay contacts include a cool, tinned contact for operating a compressor on and off.

The K71-01 is a kit of relay that replace old or broken starting relay on older TEC Refrigeration machines.

The coil used with this kit is a 25 Amp DC coil and is compatible with dpST series contactors. The relay starting element has extensive overload protection in the form of a high temperature thermal protector which shuts down the relay and contactor if the relay or contactor start winding temperature rises above approximately 400 degrees.
